Because YX and LM wanted to come to the Great Wall I had switched around the days for the activities on my plan, but stupidly I had not communicated with A that I was still hoping she would join me in looking at some tourist spots, because she is the only person I knew who would not be working. But she didn’t know I wanted her with me, and she had booked another appointment.
XR kindly arranged for a couple of her students to show me around, because I didn’t know who else at the last minute would be off work. So this morning, JFC showed me around a bit of the university, a pretty little park called 绿园 (“green park”), just north of my hotel, and then we went to the Forbidden City (故宫).
You may have seen I was sort of “flying the flag” for the University of Surrey:
And this is interesting: “端午节的五毒饼”. “Five poison cakes” are a special snack for the Dragon Boat festival. JFC thought they really had poison in them and didn’t want to try! Haha!
