Had a lovely day in the countryside of Hangzhou near West Lake with my beautiful friends Leah and Emily.  Tea plantation, quaint old village, bamboo forest.  Thank you Emily for driving us.  好想你呀

Hangzhou is indeed a beautiful green city.  At least the parts I have seen.

Driving is Beijing style again though – “on the horn”.  In Shanghai use of the horn has been pretty much banned, and it seems to have had the effect of making drivers more courteous to each other. … Read more...

Pandas

Today I went with Leah and Mia to Hangzhou Zoo.  Incredible that it only costs 20元 to go here, and yet they have all sorts of animals, including giraffes, tigers, cheetahs / panthers, zebras, bears, lions, monkeys, lots of kinds of birds, even  a seal show…

… and pandas!

So despite not getting to Chengdu on this visit, I at least saw a couple of pandas. … Read more...
